Terms of Service
The rules for using Complimee, in plain words. By joining, you agree to them, to our Community Guidelines and to how our Privacy Policy describes your data.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Gourhit Ventures Private Limited (CIN U62011DL2026PTC470554), 808B, DLF Prime Tower, Pocket F, Okhla Phase I, Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi, Delhi 110020, India (“we”, “us”), which operates Complimee.
They cover the Complimee app and this website. When you create an account, you agree to these terms, to our Community Guidelines, and to how our Privacy Policy describes your data. Venues that join have extra Partner Terms.
Who can use Complimee
You can use Complimee if:
- you’re 18 or older;
- you can make a binding agreement where you live, and using Complimee isn’t against the law there;
- we haven’t banned you from Complimee before.
You may have one account. It’s for you alone: don’t share it, sell it or let anyone else use it.
Your account
Give accurate information, including your date of birth, and keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us straight away.
How Complimee works
- Being visible. You choose when to be visible, at a venue or “right here”, and for how long. While you’re visible, people around you see a few words about your look and an animal face, never your name or photo.
- Compliments. Compliments are ready-made words or fixed phrases, never free text. They’re delivered anonymously, a few minutes later, and we never tell anyone who sent them.
- Connecting. A connection needs both people to say yes. Only then do you see each other’s first names and a text-only chat opens.
- Limits. To keep things kind, there are limits on how many compliments anyone can send, and some compliments are held back until it’s safe to deliver them anonymously.
Complimee is still growing. We may add, change or remove features, and it may not be available everywhere or all the time.
Being kind: your conduct
Follow our Community Guidelines. In particular, don’t:
- harass, threaten, bully or demean anyone, or send sexual or hateful content;
- try to find out who sent a compliment, or who someone is before they’ve connected with you;
- use what you see in Complimee to find, follow, photograph or approach someone who hasn’t connected with you;
- keep contacting someone who has said no, ignored a request, ended a chat or blocked you, including from a new account;
- describe a look that isn’t yours, or pretend to be someone else;
- spam, scam, sell or advertise;
- use bots, scripts or scraping, or try to get around limits, blocks or our security;
- break the law, or help anyone else do any of these things.
Meeting people
Complimee helps strangers say something kind. We don’t check people’s backgrounds, and we can’t control what anyone does outside the app. You’re responsible for your own interactions. If you meet someone you’ve connected with, meet in a public place, tell a friend, and leave whenever you want. If you’re ever in danger, call your local emergency number.
What you send
Your profile line and your chat messages are yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process and deliver them, only to run Complimee. We may remove anything that breaks these terms or the law.
Our app
Complimee, its design, name and artwork belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Don’t copy, sell or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows.
Safety and enforcement
You can block anyone, and report anything that feels wrong, from a compliment, a request or a chat. We look at reports and may:
- limit how many compliments someone can send;
- pause or suspend their account;
- remove content;
- ban them permanently;
- report them to the authorities.
Some of this happens automatically. For example, when several different people block or report the same person, their sending is limited. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we’ll look again.
Free to use
Complimee is free. If we ever add paid features, we’ll show the price clearly and you’ll choose whether to pay.
Ending things
You can delete your account anytime: You → Your data → Delete my account (see Delete your account).
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the law, if it’s needed to protect someone, or if we stop offering Complimee. Where we can, we’ll tell you first and explain why.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Complimee safe and running, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always work, that you’ll receive compliments or connections, or that other people will behave well.
Our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other people do. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to INR 5,000 (or the equivalent in your currency).
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date and version at the top. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you keep the protection of your own country’s mandatory laws, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Grievances and contact
For questions or complaints, write to hello@gourhit.com with “Complimee” in the subject.
Grievance Officer (India). Under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, complaints about content or conduct on Complimee can be sent to the Grievance Officer, Gourhit Ventures Private Limited, at hello@gourhit.com with “Complimee grievance” in the subject, or by post to our registered office. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.
General
These terms, with the documents they mention, are the whole agreement between us about Complimee. If part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over Complimee, without reducing your rights.
