Community Guidelines

Last updated 10 October 2026

Complimee exists for one thing, saying the nice thing. These guidelines keep it kind and safe, everywhere in the app and in how you treat people you meet through it.

On this page

  1. Be kind, and mean it
  2. Respect the anonymity
  3. Take no for an answer
  4. In chats
  5. Be yourself, and be 18+
  6. Stay safe in real life
  7. Block and report
  8. What happens if someone breaks the rules

Be kind, and mean it

Say something you genuinely noticed: a great jacket, a bold colour, a lovely vibe. A compliment is a gift, not an opening line, so expect nothing back. If they say thanks, that’s lovely; if not, that’s fine too.

Respect the anonymity

Anonymity is what makes Complimee feel safe, for the person sending and the person receiving.

  • Don’t try to work out who sent you a compliment, by watching who’s around, asking people, or comparing notes.
  • Don’t use what you see in Complimee to find, follow, photograph or approach someone who hasn’t connected with you.
  • Don’t share screenshots of someone’s look or chat to identify or embarrass them.

Take no for an answer

A connection needs two yeses. If a request goes unanswered, a chat ends or someone blocks you, let it be. Never try to reach them another way or from another account.

In chats

Chats open only when you both choose to connect, and they’re text only. Keep them as kind as the compliment that started them. Not allowed:

  • harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation;
  • sexual content or unwanted advances;
  • hate speech, or attacks on anyone for who they are;
  • spam, scams, selling, or asking for money;
  • sharing someone else’s personal information;
  • pretending to be someone else.

Be yourself, and be 18+

  • Complimee is for adults only. Give your real date of birth.
  • Keep one account.
  • Describe what you’re actually wearing, so a compliment reaches the right person.

Stay safe in real life

If you decide to meet someone you’ve connected with, meet in a busy public place, tell a friend where you’ll be, and leave whenever you want. Trust your instincts. If you’re ever in danger, call your local emergency number (112 in India and the EU).

Block and report

  • Block anyone from a compliment, a request or a chat. Blocks are permanent and work both ways: you won’t see each other again anywhere in the app, and they’re never told it was you.
  • Report anything that breaks these guidelines. Reports are private.
  • Something serious? Write to hello@gourhit.com with “Complimee safety” in the subject.

What happens if someone breaks the rules

  • Limits. When several different people block or report the same person, their sending is limited automatically. More reports pause their sending for a week.
  • Strikes and suspensions. Repeated or serious problems add strikes, and suspend or end the account.
  • Removal. We remove content that breaks these guidelines.
  • The law. We report illegal content and behaviour to the authorities, and we always report anything that puts a child at risk (see our Child Safety Standards).

If you think we got something wrong, write to us and we’ll look again.
